Pirates of Penzance coming to the James 31 May & 1 June
Maitland Gilbert & Sullivan & Musical Society are celebrating their 50th Year with the very first show they ever performed… Gilbert and Sullivan’s The Pirates of Penzance, which brings to life the most lovable swashbuckling, free spirited, crazy troop of pirates that you have ever seen. On his 21st birthday the young pirate apprentice Frederic has completed his duty of servitude to his fellow Pirates. He must leave the pirates who have raised him and venture out to the world and become his own person, experience new things and meet new people. The young, beautiful Mabel instantly catches his eye. Along the way a bunch of crazy characters like the The Pirate King, Major General Stanely and the Sergeant of Police weave their way in to the story causing all kinds of hysterical chaos that will leave you laughing in the aisles. Filled with toe-tapping tunes and a storyline that’s a laugh a minute, this show is definitely something you will not want to miss!
